FAMILY MISSION TRIP

BELIZE

Belize 2024 is here!

This trip is for families (including a family of one!) of all ages and stages. RockPointe will be working with our ministry partners, Kidz Konnect 4 Jesus, specifically in the schools to help run VBS. If you don't feel like working with kids is for you, don't worry, there will be opportunities for you to serve and use your gifts. A great opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus with the whole family!

Trip Information

  • You do need a passport for each person going.
  • Immunizations/vaccines are not required to go to Belize, though you can check the CDC for recommended they are not mandatory. Please feel free to do what's best for your family.
  • We do not have a specific packing list, though one will come after registration. Generally speaking, you'd like shorts and t-shirts (it's very hot and humid). Bug spray is a big thing you'd like to bring.
  • Your sleeping and food accommodations are all taken care of there. You will stay in an air-conditioned facility, hotel style (for the Family trip). You do not need to bring bedding. You can shower, stay cool, etc in the mornings and evenings before going out. Food is also provided, the only meal you would need to provide/pay for yourself is at the airport returning back to the US.
  • Yes, you would have electricity at the hotel.
  • Due to its history before gaining independence, Belize still abides by the English school system which requires religious training in their schools. The missionaries there, David and Karen Rhodes provide that. We are helping. So, to you, it would feel like a VBS of sorts. The children will be from age 7-13 (approx) and, even if you don't feel like young children are your gift, there will be lots to do for everyone. They rotate through the kids at the school each day (different ages, etc...) doing things like crafts, science, stories, teaching, music, etc... The last day is a day of reflection. We know that going on a mission trip can be super busy and then you come home and get back to a busy schedule and don't always have time to process. So, the last day in Belize they go out to an island area (they have I believe the second largest barrier reef in the world) and do activities with your family and allow you to debrief on what you've done that week. There are several meetings before the trip that will help prepare and equip you so that you feel better placed.
  • You'll find the cost/deposit/payment schedule on the sheet attached.
  • If you are going with your children and both parents are not on the trip, you will need some special forms due to laws regarding one parent taking children out of the country. It's not complicated, and we can get you those forms, but it is mandatory.
