About Your Family:
I married Caleb in December 2023.
What is your story?
I grew up in a conservative Jewish home. This involved learning lots of traditions that felt quite empty. We spent hours a week praying and devoting time to learning Hebrew in order to pray, but belief in God was not an important motive for this. I noticed inconsistencies between belief and practice and asked many questions as I was growing up, which were often seen as disrespectful. As I got older, tension grew between me and my Jewish community and I felt like an outsider. Eventually I was able to leave the Jewish community, which was quite hard on my family. I tried being an atheist for about three months until I had a huge spinout on a highway. I knew that the Lord kept me alive, and I felt a need to go to church and listen for once. When I walked into the church, I knew that Jesus was special because I could see the joy in His people. Christians had something that I wanted. Instead of being told the gospel, I discovered it in the Bible. I bought one after my first church service and started reading in Matthew. Because I knew parts of the Old Testament, I was able to understand that the New Testament was the fulfillment. I fell in love with Jesus by accident, by stumbling into church and reading a Bible. It took a while for Jesus to take complete hold of my life and I struggled with substance abuse and eating disorder for years after putting my faith in Jesus. I believe the Lord has used these parts of my life to shape the indescribable love I have for the hurt and lost.
